How is decaffeinated coffee made?

Decaffeinated coffee is created through a process of leaching (decaffeination) of unroasted 100% Arabica beans. This variety of coffee itself has a mild flavor and much lower caffeine content than its frequent companion, Robusta. Rigello Swiss Decaf is roasted on medium – it’s the so-called. City roasting. Thanks to this process, notes of good quality cocoa and a slight sweetness of caramel are perceptible. Decaf is devoid of caffeine therefore it is unlikely to give you an energy boost. However, it does have an advantage. Decaffeinated coffee is a beverage you can indulge in morning, noon, evening and night!

Strength

Strength "1":
The coffee blend with the strength degree of 1 defines decaffeinated coffees that are caffeine-free. They have the taste and aroma of coffee, but you cannot expect the energy boost of caffeinated coffee.

Coffee roast
City

Coffee roast "City":
City stands for medium roast degree - it is the most common roast degree of coffee beans. The beans are brown in color - darker than Medium and lighter than City +. It has clear fruity aromas broken with light chocolate and caramel. The taste of the coffee is balanced, and the caffeine content allows for an energetic "kick".

Acidity
Low

Acidity "Low":
Low acidity (has nothing to do with sourness) is characteristic of heavily roasted coffees. The low acidity is also influenced by the large addition of Robusta, which hides the acidic, fruity notes contained in Arabica. Low-acid coffees have an intense chocolate flavor with caramel notes, sometimes a slight bitterness can be felt.

Decaffeinated coffee beans

Rigello Swiss Decaf is a delicate coffee that is best brewed in automatic and pour-over coffee makers. You will bring out all the flavors of caffeine-free Brazilian coffee by grinding it finely, preferably just before brewing. However, if you don’t have any of the machines you can prepare Decaf in a drip. What coffees will it work best for? You can drink decaffeinated coffee both without additives and with milk, in which case it’s a good idea to make a slightly stronger base. As with other types of Arabica, you can make Cold Brew – just remember to grind the grains a little coarser.
